I truly believe that dancing together is the salvation of our people

I got mad poems, I wrote them and I know them
every now and then I bust them out and I show them
but only on the stage or in the dead of night
when I’m all alone or under bright lights
only when I’m high and feeling right
then I got mad poems that I recite
some of these poems came when I was crying
others were born when my mother was dying
some poems are tight, some poems are loose
but all my poems tell the truth
some I write as I travel the lands
some I wrote for my funky ass bands
many I wrote, 4 lost love
and every single line for the one above
they only come out when the feelings right

How I long to see your face
to have you here, to share my joy
my precious family
I want you to see
the joyous times
a tenderness we share, that spans the years
how I long to have you in my home
a space I would make for you

we dreampt of a future
where we would laugh together
and you would see your grandchildren grow
your knowledge and love could compliment my own
how i wanted you to reach a peace in your life
when we would share and I could care for you
